Uncovering Monkeypox: Genomic Surveillance Beyond the Surface with Wastewater Sequencing

This form of surveillance might be used to determine whether the pre-emptive pandemic response was successful. Furthermore, the disease prevention ring vaccination strategy can help with the immunisation of those who are at high risk of becoming ill. This strategy is used to vaccinate contacts of confirmed patients as well as others living nearby. Everyone who has been or may have been exposed to a patient gets vaccinated in this manner, creating a "ring" of protection "box" that can aid in disease prevention. Ring vaccination necessitates close surveillance and early epidemiologic case evaluation. This "ring" strategy was used with great success by the Intensified Smallpox Eradication Program to eradicate smallpox in the second half of the twentieth century, and it may be used again this time.
