The monitoring of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) involves keeping a watchful eye on changes in the microbial population. This enables the detection of resistant strains that are of significant public health concern, allowing for quick notification and investigation of outbreaks. The information gathered through surveillance is crucial in making decisions regarding clinical treatments, providing guidance for policy recommendations, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions aimed at containing resistance.
